Morgan Lea: Chasing an Elite Soccer Dream in the UK

Morgan has earned the opportunity to take both academics and athletics to the next level. In September 2026, she will be attending the University of Gloucestershire in England for a degree in photography while competing at an elite level in soccer at the UDA Soccer Academy. This opportunity represents years of discipline, growth, and unwavering commitment, and she is incredibly excited to take this next step.

But pursuing this dream comes with significant financial challenges, including tuition, travel, accommodations, and training costs.

This is where your support matters.

By contributing, you’re not just helping fund a journey—you’re investing in a dedicated student-athlete who has worked relentlessly to reach this level. You’re helping Morgan represent not only personal dreams, but also community, province, and country on an international stage.

Every contribution, no matter the size, brings this goal closer to reality.

Thank you for being part of Morgan Lea’s journey!

Supported by her family: Colin, Malissa & siblings, Grandparents: Richard & Jenny Parker along with Ross & Eileen Lea.

 Where the journey began

Morgan Lea is a dedicated and talented athlete with a passion for soccer, a journey that began the same way many great stories do—small, excited, and full of potential. Starting as a U5 player, for the Spruce Grove Soccer Association, stepping onto the field for the very first time, where she was full of try and confidence.

With every practice, every game, and every challenge, that confidence grew along with a love and enjoyment of the game.

What started as learning the basics quickly became a true passion for the game. Over the years, Morgan’s dedication deepened—not just showing up, but committing to improve, compete, and stand out. That drive led to a defining moment: choosing the highly demanding and specialized role of a goalkeeper.

The Heart of a Goalkeeper…

Goalkeeping is more than a position—it’s a mindset. It demands courage, focus, and resilience. Morgan embraced that challenge fully, committing to weekly position-specific training, along with strength and fitness sessions three times a week, all while balancing team practices and games. Every hour invested has been intentional.

Morgan takes pride in being her team's last line of defense, actively contributing to plays and providing leadership on the field. She is known for her communication skills, dedication, and coachability, always seeking to improve and learn. And it shows.

Alberta Player Development Provincial Champions

Canadian Player Development National Tournament, 6th place finish.

Competing in Alberta’s top youth league, the Alberta Player Development League (APDL), Morgan played at the highest level in the province, helping lead her team, the Scottish United 2008 girls, to a Provincial Championship title. That victory earned a place on the national stage, where Morgan and the team competed against the best in Canada, finishing an impressive 6th overall.

Momentum continues

Varsity League

After completing her season with the Scottish APDL team, Morgan needed to find her next opportunity. The APDL league only has levels for players up to the end of their grade 11 year. EMSA was organizing the second year of a varsity program, so she looked for a team within that option. She found a newly formed team in the KC Trojans Soccer Club.

Final Season tournament, semi-final game.

After a hard-fought season and tons of growth on the KC Varsity team, they came to win! The semi-final game was played against the SWU Chehimi team in the Edmonton Soccer Dome on March 21/26. The game ended in a tie which meant it would be decided in a penalty kickoff. Morgan stopped enough attempts and her teammates made enough attempts that they won the game.

Final Season tournament, final game.

On Sunday, March 22/26, was the league final match-up of KC vs St. Albert Impact. It was an exciting game ending in another tie! Morgan stepped up again, blocking more attempts from the Impact team than their keeper stopped from the KC team. They won the 2025/26 Varsity League Championship!!!

As a goalkeeper, Morgan has developed a reputation for composure in the moments that matter most—especially during tie-breaking penalty kicks, where games are decided in seconds. Time and again, Morgan has delivered.

Coaching & Mentorship and Community Spirit

Coaching and Mentoring

In her community, the City of Spruce Grove, Morgan helps coach and mentor young goalkeepers, sharing her knowledge and encouraging the next generation to grow in both skill and confidence.

When time allows, Morgan also volunteers with the Capital-Sp soccer programs for homeschool sports days.

Outside of Soccer…

Outside of soccer, Morgan enjoys story writing, camping, hiking, horseback riding, and paintball/airsoft. Recently, she has found the art of photography, bringing a creative perspective to her busy and disciplined life. Morgan has a strong interest in learning more about sports photography, but for now, has had opportunities to create headshots of coaches for a local club, cover a futsal event, and create headshots for a local business.

ICE Youth Group (Beach corner)

Morgan is an active participant in the ICE Youth group, attending weekly meetups, contributing to & enjoying activities.

The Next Chapter - UDA Soccer Academy and U of Glos

Morgan’s journey is only just beginning. After years of dedication, growth, and relentless commitment, she has earned the opportunity to take both her academics and athletics to the next level.

This milestone is more than an achievement—it’s the realization of a dream built through hard work and perseverance. Morgan is proud to represent her family, her community, and beyond, and she hopes to inspire others to chase their own goals with the same determination.

As she takes this exciting step onto an international stage, she does so with gratitude for the support that makes it possible.

Every contribution helps ease the financial challenges of tuition, travel, accommodations, and training, and brings her one step closer to fully embracing this opportunity.

Thank you for being part of Morgan Lea’s story—your support is helping turn her dream into reality.
